Sample Wedding Toasts
I have included some sample wedding toasts in an outline format that will make it easier for you to choose from when you are ready to compile your own general wedding speech.
You can use it as a total guide or to just simply get an idea as to what you can include in your wedding toasts; whether you are toasting the bride, groom, groomsmen, or the parents of either the bride or the groom!
Note thought that the wedding toast does not have to be structured in the way that I
have outlined it here with an introduction, body, and conclusion. This is just a formal way of putting it together.
However, the idea remains the same in terms of layout which will result in a smoother delivery.
So use these sample wedding toasts to your advantage!
Different Parts of A Sample Wedding Toast or Speech
- Before beginning, I'd like to
offer my sincerest gratitude to (Bride and Groom) for allowing me to be
part of this special occasion. Also, I would like to say thank you to
(Bride's Parents) for all that you've done to make this the special day
that it is. And, of course, my gratitude to (Groom's Parents) for all of
your support and all that you've done to make this, by all accounts,
the perfect day.
- Excuse me. Would
anybody mind if I took this time to wish (Bride and Groom) a happy half
hour anniversary? I would like to say thank you to (Bride's Parents) for
all that you've done to make this the special day that it is. And, of
course, my gratitude to (Groom's Parents) for all of your support and
all that you've done to make this, by all accounts, the perfect day. And
finally, thank you, (Groom) for making such a good choice for the best
The Main Body
- In our lifetimes, we are gifted a
small number of truly "landmark moments". They start small enough, say,
riding a two-wheeler bicycle or throwing your graduation cap high into
the air. They grow in power and significance; some of you have seen the
moment when a doctor tells you, "it's a girl," or, "it's a boy," and
then hands you that perfect little life that you created. And it must be
a perfect moment when you look into the eyes of the most loving,
caring, giving, individual that you've ever known and realize you've
found true love. A moment like this and the commitment which follows
should be celebrated to its fullest. And so, I contend to all present
that it is our duty to ensure that this moment in the lives of Marcy and
Fred does not pass unrecognized. And in celebrating their happiness we
might just make this one of the landmark moments of our own lives.
morning when (Groom) and I were getting ready, he turned to me and
asked "Is everything okay?" I don't mind telling you that I was taken
aback by this. In all the years that I've known him, that's the first
time he's expressed any interest in my well-being. Oh sure, he's talked
to me before, but it's usually, "Pass the chips", or "Don't stand in
front of the TV", or "Did you pick up the beer?" This morning he wanted
to know if I'm okay. I blame (Bride) for this sudden surge in
sentimentality. Now (Groom) is caring, he's generous, he's sensitive. I
don't even know him anymore. (Bride) has changed my best friend. Actually, I should thank you (Bride). You've done in 8 months, what I couldn't do in 8 years.
- It is with great pleasure that I say
congratulations to (Bride and Groom)... may you share many warm days and
many warm nights... "everybody raise your glass... here's to (Bride and
- Here's to (Bride and Groom), a life of years, free of tears, bottoms up and lots of luck.
